BUT

Now I can understand why I'm so disappointed. It is simply because I do not know myself. What are my believes? What are my positive and negative points?
You know, once a very good friend of mine asked me about himself. He said: There is a "but" in everybody's life and continued: "If someone asks you about me, what do you say? For sure you'll say the positive points don't you? But there is a "but" there. What's that one? I mean, you say: he is good in this and this and this...BUT he is ..."
And I'm looking for those BUTs. I sometimes even don't know the positives in me. Maybe they are negatives in someone's point of view.
I'm lost but have a proof here. A poem from Shel Silverstein again:

##########
I asked the zebra
Are you black with white stripes?
Or white with black stripes?
And the zebra asked me,
Are you good with bad habits?
Or are you bad with good habits?
Are you noisy with quiet times?
Or are you quiet with noisy times?
Are you happy with some sad days?
Or are you sad with some happy days?
Are you neat with some sloppy ways?
Or are you sloppy with some neat ways?
And on and on and on and on
And on and on he went.
I'll never ask a zebra
About stripes
Again

  • Awesome little poem and very true. I should actually go on and ask the zebra more questions...seems that he answers it right. Oh and if his answers are still true, then I'd go to a talk show with him ;D Oh no, wait, first get a few publications on Science and Nature about talking with zebras and mysteries of life unfold :D

  • The poem was nice. The comments were quite interesting too. I don't know if you need to leave Japan to get your mood back but I am pretty sure you need to travel outside Japan to refresh...

  • Disappintment comes from expectations. Are you expecting too much from yourself? Are you being too harsh on yourself? Self discovery is a great journey. Welcome. Unfortunately most people don't take the time to think who they are? why are they here? And what is their purpose?...
