National core technologies of Japan

Among the articles published in the latest volume of "The Japan Journal" (Vol. 2, No.4, Aug. 2005), the one on National Core Technology attracted my interest and tempted me to put some words here.

"National Core Technology" projects, which are 10 in number, are recommended by an advisory committee for the Minsitry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, and are aimed to be pursued in advance of the third-phase science and technology plan to be launched in 2006. Objectives are: maintenance and enhancement of competence, ensuring independence and autonomy, and display of presence and appeal as a nation.

Here is a list of the projects:
1- Comprehensive observation and monitoring systems on a global scale.
2- Fast breeder reactor cycle technologies.
3- Marine exploration systems.
4- Space transport systems.
5- Nuclear fusion technologies.
6- World-leading next-generation supercomputing technologies.
7- The world's leading capacity optical analysis technologies.
8- The world's largest capacity molecular imaging technologies.
9- The world's highest capacity analysis and synthesis technologies for the structure and function of protein.
10- The world's leading edge measurement and analysis technologies that serve as the basic tool in the post-nanotech age.

Well. Now you can guess where we (?) are...

How come? Maybe 'cause of the fonts?

    Sakura:
    Welcome my dear friend.

    Negin:
I understand. But in my opinion, you should not publicize those points. Instead, it is better to try to cope with them, if negative. Good luck.

By that, I meant that if we write the positive points and do not the negative characters, then the readers misjudge the Japanese and their culture. In my opinion, though, Japan is a society with all its positive and negative points. The situation of the women, for example, could be a good explanation.
