Arab?

It was about three years ago when I was searching in our library here in our campus. Then I found a book in which, Avi Sina (or Abu Ali Sina) was introduced as an Arab scientist.
Then I thought: maybe it is because of himself. You know, he wrote some books in Arabic. Not only him, in fact almost all of our scientific books are written in Arabic.

But this is not an excuse, I thought, coz the language of science has been Arabic at that time; I mean when Muslims were the pioneers in science. So why they are called Arabs while they are Iranians?

And, BTw, to many people around the globe, Iranians are Arabs. So, sometimes you got to tell them that you are from Persia, the great land ever, to improve your face in their images.

You know, once I decided to contact some publishers -whether online or not- to modify the texts but I gave up. Why? Just check yourself and see how many publishers inside the country are printing their stuff in Arabic. We found children books published by "Be'sat publishing" in Arabic. Where? OF course, here in Japan; In the public library of the city. Believe it or not everything was written in Arabic even the address of the Iranian publisher. And the result...

  • Hi Cyrus - I feel U my man. I really do. This Arab thing has been bothering the hell out of me for years. I also agree with The Teacher, that it's Iran's Arab worshiping government that has left such an image in the minds of the western society, but what could we do to fix it, is the question. Maybe we all should setup a weblog together and fight the hell out of this ideology once for all. Have U heard about the Persian Gulf name change? Now, that’s disturbing!

  • It's really sad, and one day we'll see the result,of course not a pleasent one. This summer I went to Iran and found a lot of arabs there, specially in Mashad. Now they even own their own hotels there. It's just...sad...

  • Iranian teacher:
Maybe, but we got to try to give a good image to the rest of the world.

    Farzad:
Yes. I agree with the idea of blogging to give a new image of Iranians to the world.

    Maryam:
Yes. But the problem is that people inside Iran do not care about themselves. You know, they prefer foreigners to the Iranians quite often.

    Farzad:
    Thanks my friend. Many thanks.

  • I don't get what you're all mad of!!! Remember it was PERSIAN kings who lost a lot of Persia!. I was so impressed by a Canadian girl once when she asked me a very very simple question. "Why are Iranian SO PROUD to be Persian?!! and not Arabs. I think she ment well! Arabs and Iranian are both the same, behave similar, simillar customs, even are neighbors.
It's just like me watching Arabs from outside and say Why in HELL Arabs are so proud of being Arabs!!!
Here is what I suggest you to do:
    1. Go make your hotels in Arab countries
    2. Go publish your own books and name your land whatever you wanna name it!
    3. Own TV Channels and say whatever you wanna say...

By the way, do all your friends know you are Persian and not Arab?! ( If you've not changed the mind of those around you, how do you wanna chage the others through weblog?!)

One more thing, those who wanna be your friend don't care where you are from. Don't you think so?

First of all, I'm not mad of anything but just wanted to mention the case.
Secondly, I have heared the question-your friend asked- several times. This is not about to be proud of our past. And I'm not among those who just think that the emperors have done great things in our land, Iran. The case, though, is that Arabs and Iranians are quite different in many aspects with their good or bad habits, whatever. We are Iranians with our history whether you like it or not. So they can not be recognized as members of the same family. Surely, there are some common points but you got to think what we have given them and what we have recieved in a mutual trade. How many good points can you count?
And finally, my friends come into classified categories. Borders are not important as long as they treat you the same way you do.
