A simple question

Several years ago-when I was a student, our teacher asked a simple question:

"Why people are not scared of each other when they are alive but they do fear when they see dead bodies?" And continued: "You see, dead bodies are not harmful, and in contrast, it is a live one who can be dangerous..."

I was too young to answer his question at that time; or, better to say, I could not find any good reason for this behavior.

Now, at this age, I've got something as a reply to the question. Not sure if it is the right one but seems to be. Here it is:

The fact is that, when we see a dead body, we see our future in a moment. We find that we will have the same destiny after all. Sooner or later. And then, there is a feeling of fear. What about seeing people sleeping or unconscious? Why it does not impose the same feeling? Maybe because of the hope. We know that s/he will get into the real world soon; But a dead one, no...

  • Just because we are fooled by peoples words and experience without getting to know their inner motivations.
But dead bodies are thought hair raising and fearful

  • May be because from when we were a child ,we have been taught not to touch a dead dody or look at it.

  • When I see a dead body, I start to imagine myself in a cubic whole inside the earth with a huge stone and a pile of soil on top of my head. Some say you still feel pain when you're dead, you just don't have the ability to act. And if it's true then isn't it fearful?
It's gonna be exciting to go somewhere you've never been to though!!! It's just too sad you can't come back to your home any more.

  • Are we really sacred of a dead body? Or are we sacred of the violent death? Are we scared of what might happen to us too, of the unknown. . .
And R we all scared of it?

  • No, not everybody are scared of death. Some even look forward to it, believe it or not.
But I think cyrus is absolutely right. It is the thought of our mortality that scares us, (most of us anyway). Knowing that we must die one day - and not knowing what will happen then. In that moment we are by ourselves... lonely.

  • Naz - U have a point there Doc. Now that I'm thinking about it. I'm afraid of violent death to say the least. However, "death" by itself, is our destiny and somehow I'm in peace with it.

In regard to naemeh's comment, Yes I have heard so many stories like that too. It is creepy, big time. However, there is nothing scarier than finding out that there is no other life after death. Meaning, "death is death". That idea creeps the hell out of me.
On the other hand, if there is a next life, but with no chocolate and fly fishing, that by itself is scarier than everything else.

Cyrus - What's the matter with U my man? It's only Wednesday baba. Couldn't U post this on Friday?
Okay everybody, I'm going to church to pray 4 rest of the day... Thank U, Bye Bye :)
